KWIK DRY CLEANING PROCESS

CLEANING PREPARATION

Inspect area to be cleaned and vacuum thoroughly.

PRE-TREATING

Before starting the cleaning process we pretreat to help eliminate spots and stains (except those which have permanently changed the carpet or upholstery fibers).  We will also pre-treat traffic areas.  We are also offering our Kwik Dry Home Pro Spotter for sale. This is a product you cannot buy in the stores.

Your carpet cleaning technicians will have bottles with them.

DRY FOAM CLEANING

After cleaning with our non residue foam cleaning agent, your carpet will actually stay clean longer becasue there is no residue to attract dirt and soil.  Light traffic is permissible right after cleaning and carpet in heavily soiled areas should dry completely in an hour or so.

FINAL BRUSHING

After the cleaning is complete the carpet is brushed to its fullest height - giving it a new look of luster and fluffiness!

Problems with Dog Odor & Urine Stains?

You should avoid using steam cleaners to clean urine odors from carpet or upholstery. The heat will permanently set the odor and the stain by bonding the protein into any man-made fibers. You should also avoid using cleaning chemicals, especially those with strong odors, such as ammonia or vinegar. From your pet’s perspective, these don’t effectively eliminate or cover the urine odor and may actually encourage your pet’s inclination to reinforce the urine scent mark in that area.  Ask our carpet cleaning technicians about "BAD DOG" for those really bad dog issues.

ABOUT ENCAPSULATION CARPET CLEANERS

Thanks to the encapsulation process carpets can stay cleaner and last longer. The secret is a revolutionary technology, which suspends dirt, oil, and detergent residue, so that standard vacuums can remove it.

Traditional carpet cleaning products are designed to emulsify dirt. This process often leaves behind a sticky residue on carpets, which in turn, makes them susceptible to more dirt in less time.

In contrast, encapsulation chemicals surround each particle of dirt and crystallize it, so it repels other soil. The dirt particles, then rise to the surface of the carpet and evaporate away. This process helps carpets stay cleaner because it does not leave behind a layer of sticky residue. Encapsulation carpet cleaners also incorporate acid dye resistors, surface tension modifiers, and polymers, which eliminate the need for rinsing.

DEODORIZER/GERMICIDE

Deodorizer/Germicide can be applied during regular cleaning.  This product stabilizes normal surface odors and kills the fungus and bacteria that cause sub-surface orders.  It works to stabilize mildew, smoking, cooking, and other normal odors.  It also kills Dust Mites and elminates Dust Mite feeces (known to cause problems with allergies).

SOIL RETARDANT

To preserve and protect your carpet Kwik Dry Soil Retardant can be applied after cleaning.  Most carpets have been treated with some sort of protective coating by the manufacturer. This protection, over time, simply wears off. The Kwik Dry Retardant replaces this sealer.

  • It is a product that really helps keep carpets looking cleaner longer by forming a molecular shield around each carpet fiber
  • Stains won't stick and it repels liquid spills (provides more repellency than any other carpet protector)
  • Dirt won't stick to it, either – it helps prevent dirt from being ground into the fibers
  • Helps extend the life of your carpet (most carpets don't wear out, they "ugly out"!)
  • Helps make carpets easier to care for (more dirt is removed in routine vacuuming)
  • Undetectable by sight, smell or touch
  • It's CFC- and solvent-free
  •

It will allow spot cleaning with ease, prolong the life of your carpet and aid in effective cleaning the next time. We highly recommend this product for commercial areas due to high traffic.

What our customer like best about our process:

    • dry enough so you can walk on it immediately after our cleaning
    • It is completely dry in about 45 minutes
    • We move the furniture so you do nothing in preparation
    • Your carpet stays cleaner longer due to our NON-RESIDUE shampoo
    • We are a local family run and operated business
    • We are bonded & insured and members of the NW Ohio and SW     Michigan Better Business Bureau and proud to say we have never had a single complaint.
    • We take Mastercard, Visa & American Express

We are your greener cleaner because we use a lot less water (a couple of gallons versus 40 gallons) and no harsh chemicals to be rinsed down the drain or sewer.  Our shampoo does not leave a residue.  Cleaners who use detergents that are animal fat or oil based leave residue on your carpet that isn't good for the environment and actually acts like a big dirt magnet causing your carpet to attract soil.  That is good for the company who cleaned your carpet because it creates quick turnover business....but it not healthy for your family or the environment.

Some Carpet Cleaning Tips from your friends at Kwik Dry:

  •  Most residential carpet should be cleaned and protected at yearly intervals
  • Daily vacuuming in open areas is recommended to prevent overall soiling and premature wear
  • Always test the cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous part of the carpet before applying them to a large area.
  • Use a white cloth rather than a colored one to prevent any dyes from coming off on the carpet. Don't rub.
  • As you blot, keep turning the cloth so that you are using a clean, dry section to pick up the stain and cleaning fluids from the carpet.
  • If using a brush to help clean the stain, always brush from the outer edges of the spill inward to prevent the stain from spreading.
  • Use a spoon or dull knife to remove solid materials.
  • Work from the outside of the stain to the center to prevent spreading.
  • SPILLS - clean spills up immediately to prevent them from seeping deeper into the carpet fibers.  Place a small mound of salt on the spill and leave for an hour or two, then vacuum up.  Salt has a property that obsorbs liquid and will pull the spill out of the carpet

  • SPOTS - many spots can be removed by using clear Windex (do not scrub - spray the spot and use a clean white towel to press down on the spot.  As long as you are getting "transfer" to the white towel continue the process.  If you have blue Windex mix it half & half with water first.

  • Dog Urine, Odor & Stains -

Soak up as much of the urine as possible with a combination of paper towels and a common kitchen sponge (be sure to throw away your kitchen sponge after use). The more fresh urine you can remove before it dries, especially from carpet, the easier it will be to remove the odor. Place a thick layer of paper towels on the wet spot. Stand on the stack of paper towels for about one minute. Remove the paper towels and repeat the process until the area is barely damp.

If possible, take the fresh, urine-soaked paper towel to the area where it belongs -- your cat’s litter box or your dog’s designated outdoor "bathroom area". Let your pet see you do it. This will help to remind your pet that going potty isn’t a "bad" behavior as long as it’s done in the right place.

Rinse the "mishap area" thoroughly with clean, cool water. After rinsing, remove as much of the water as possible by blotting or by placing salt on the area to absorb as mentioned above.

  • GUM - use peanut butter - spread on gum, poke with a fork and work the gum out of the carpet....it takes a little patience

  • RUST - use lemon juice and a soft scrub brush

  • DENTS - put ice in dent and let dry (should expand to normal condition

  • CAT URINE - to prevent your cat from urinating in the same spot put aluminum foil to discourage.  (first have Kwik Dry thoroughly clean and deodarize the area)

  • FLEAS - put 1/4 teaspoon of salt to 1 quart of water into a spray bottle and mist onto the carpet.  Let sit for an hour and then sprinkle salt around the baseboards of the entire room.

Common Carpet Problems

Traffic Lane Gray

Traffic lane gray is the term used to describe carpet that looks darker where there is the most traffic. If your carpet looks gray or dingy even after a good cleaning, this could be your problem. The individual carpet fibers that make up each tuft are designed to reflect light. As the carpet is worn, the fiber reflects less light and appears darker from a distance. This problem is caused by wear. Dirt acts as an abrasive actually scratching your carpet as you walk on it. This problem is not correctable but it can be prevented by having your carpet cleaned often and rearranging furniture from time to time to change the flow of traffic through your rooms.

Pile Reversal

Pile reversal is a characteristic of cut pile carpet. If your carpet has a wavy line down it or appear darker on one side of the room than the other with a clearly defined border this may be your problem. What has happened is that the carpet tufts have actually shifted and are laying the opposite direction. If you move your hand across a pile carpet you will see that it changes colors and will become lighter or darker. With pile reversal the carpet fibers have shifted giving you this effect. Pile reversal is not considered a defect of carpet. It is merely a characteristic of pile carpeting and is uncorrectable.

Filtration Lines

Filtration lines occur around the edges of walls and underneath doors. If you have a black or gray line around your room or under a door, this is most likely your problem. They are caused by your HVAC system. As air is forced into the room from your heating and air conditioning system it creates pressure in the room. To equalize this air pressure, the air flows underneath walls and doors. The carpet along this area will act like a filter trapping these fine particles of dust and soot. Most homes will get filtration lines and they are difficult to remove but can be improved with carpet cleaning. You can help prevent them by leaving doors open for air to travel through and by making sure your heating system is well maintained.

Candle Lines

Candle lines are caused by of course candles. Do you have a black or gray line around your furniture? When candles burn, they produce soot which will settle around furniture and draperies leaving an outline. They essentially create smoke damage which is difficult to remove but a good carpet cleaner can substantially if not completely remove them. Similar damage can be caused by a poorly adjusted mixture on your gas heater or a fireplace flue that is not venting correctly. To help prevent candle damage, keep wicks cut down and try to buy higher quality candles that don't contain lead in the wick.

These tips are only suggestions and based on past experience with these type of carpet cleaning situations.  Use them at your own risk.

When to clean carpets:

1 - You should have your carpets cleaned at least once a year because pollutants gather in your carpets throughout your home.  Pollutants like germs, pollen, dust mites, dust and more.  Cleaning & Deodarizing helps eliminate all of these pollutants.

2 -When you keep your house closed up and run the air conditioner or heat you trap pollutants in your house and recirculated them through the trapped air....allowing them to gather in your carpets.

3 - Kwik Dry's carpet shampoo has a very pleasant light odor....so you don't have to have windows and doors open.

4 - We have portable equipment so no hoses coming in through your door and we can clean apartments easily.
